Metro Nashville Board of Education Approves New Pay Plan
The Metro Nashville Board of Education has ratified a differentiated pay plan, allowing MNPS to change the way it compensates some of its teaching staff. With the new system, salary supplements and/or cost of training will be provided to qualifying teachers in some high priority schools, to those in difficult-to-fill subject areas, and to those with certain certifications. Mayor’s First Day Festival
Mayor Karl Dean will help kick off the school year with the annual Mayor’s First Day Festival, Sunday, August 3, from 2 – 5 p.m. This year’s kickoff festival will be held at the Sommet Center (formerly the Nashville Arena), at 501 Broadway in downtown Nashville. MNPS, State Department of Education announce changes
MNPS and the Tennessee Department of Education have announced a reorganization of some MNPS central office staff and functions. The Department of Teaching and Learning will be transformed into a newly structured Department of Curriculum and Instruction; it will be led by six cabinet-level curriculum specialists who will have oversight of the schools under them. MNPS presents revised Fiscal 2008-09 budget proposal
MNPS administrators presented a revised version of the proposed Fiscal 2008-2009 MNPS Operating Budget to the district’s Finance Committee Monday, June 2. The revised spending plan reflects anticipated funding from the State, as well as use of federal funds to provide needed services and programs to meet No Child Left Behind requirements.
