IB English III

Three books are required.

1.       Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston

2.       The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien

Be prepared to complete several activities on the book when we return to school. 

3.       Choose one biography or autobiography of any person of your choice.  The book must be at least 150 pages.  Make sure that your parents approve your choice.  Create an informational handout about this person including important events in his or her life, accomplishments, quotes by or about the person, and what we can learn from this person.  Create a Works Cited page with an MLA citation of your book, and be prepared to give a presentation on your person during the first week of school. You will need to bring the book (or a copy of the cover of the book if you check it out from the library) when you present.

IB English IV

Three books are required.

Be prepared to complete several activities on the book in class when we return to school. 

3.       Choose one biography or autobiography of any person of your choice.  The book must be at least 150 pages.  Choose someone whom you find interesting, and make sure that your parents approve your choice.  When you finish reading the book, choose two passages from the text and write a commentary for each passage using your SCASTIC model.  We have studied this in class.  You must provide a copy of the passages as well as your commentaries, and your writing should be no fewer than four pages.  The commentaries will be turned in during the first week of school.  Create a Works Cited page with an MLA citation of your book, and be prepared to give a brief “Book Talk” when we return to school.  You will need to bring the book (or a copy of the cover of the book if you check it out from the library) when you present.
