Did you know International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidates are required to complete 150 CAS hours before April of their senior year?
Creativity Action Service
are the three components of the program and there is great flexibility in the activities that qualify. Students are encouraged to design their own interesting projects that fit with the IB theme of becoming a well-rounded top-notch thinker.
In the history of our IB program students have helped build a home for Habitat for Humanity, tried new sports and activities, raised money for a variety of charities, and organized benefit concerts. Already this year in CAS projects IB students are hosting a free music appreciation class at Rocketown (Tuesdays at 3:00…all students are invited), converting part of the defunct auto shop department into a lounge for the Spoken Word club (see Ms. Gayden for info), and interning at a veterinarian’s office.
This school year the IB department is hard at work moving the CAS program to the school website. Our goal is to have a convenient place for FAQ’s of parents and students, plus provide pre-approved CAS activities, online sign-ups for events, and guidelines on how students submit their own unique projects for approval. Keep checking back this year for updates and please submit your own questions and ideas via our online form (coming soon!)
