The Life Skills program is an integral part of the Hillsboro High community. Three teachers, Ms. Daniel, Coach Myers, and Ms. Weed, along with several educational assistants, serve the students both in and out of the Life Skills curriculum. Our emphasis is on academics along with job and social skills training. The students rotate between the three Life Skills teachers for academics and also attend both general ed and resource classes accompanied by one of our special ed assistants. In preparation for post high school life, students participate in work activities in the community such as setting tables at Calvary United Methodist Church and working at LP Pencilbox. There is more to their experience than just academics and work. From pep rallies and sports to prom and graduation, our students participate in and enjoy numerous extra curricular activities. After their senior year at Hillsboro High, some of our students may choose to go on to the Community Based Transition Program. |
