NavyROTC and Nurse Corps Scholarship- Available to students who will be 17 by September 1st, US citizenship, ACT scores of 22 math and 22 English minimum. For more information go to www.nrotc.navy.com or pick up a brochure in Guidance. The earlier a student applies the better their chances of receiving the scholarship.
AEMP Foundation Scholarship
- Students planning on attending a two-year diesel technician program. Applications are available in Guidance or online at www.aemp.org/scholarship.htm. Application packet must be postmarked by May 1.
Organized Neighbors of Edgehill (O.N.E.)/Barnes Scholarship- students who reside in the Edgehill Community bounded by Wedgewood Ave., Division St., Villa Pl., and Eighth Ave. South, including parts of ZIP codes 37212 and 37203. A map is included with the application packet. Must have been accepted by an institution of higher learning. Application packet must be postmarked by May 31.
The Greater Nashville Alliance of Black School Educators, Gwendolyn Smith Scholarship
- Open to African American students interested in pursuing a career in education and who is willing to write an essay about a deceased African American educator. Applications must be received by May 5.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity-African American male, 3.0 GPA or above, no discipline problems, no suspensions, and no attendance problems, attending college in the fall of 2008. Materials must be received by April 15.
Pearl High School Heritage Classes Foundation-descendant of a Pearl High Alumnus OR a graduating senior committed to attending an HBCU (Historically Black College or University), 2.5 GPA or higher. Must be postmarked by April 23.
Scarlett Family Foundation- Applications must be postmarked no later than May 1.
Elizabeth Buford Shepherd Scholarship-Upper 10% in graduating class (scholars diploma students with a 100-point GPA of 92 or higher). Applications must be received by May 1.
Balanced Man Scholarship, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity- Male students entering the University of Memphis. Application must be received by May 20.
Uplift Scholarship-students with a minimum GPA of 2.5, attending an accredited school, and willing to write an essay on one of two topics selected by the organization. Applications can be submitted online at www.upliftscholarship.org. Applications must be submitted on or before May 31.
Beta Theta Pi, Delta Kappa Chapter-male student, attending UT Knoxville. Application packet must be postmarked no later than July 23rd.
There is a scholarship available to students who reside in the Edgehill neighborhood within specified boundaries, but the actual application form has not come in yet. As soon as it does I will send out that information.
