The faculty of Hillsboro High School accommodates for individual differences in learning styles by teaching and assessing students using visual, auditory, and tactile learning modalities. Special education students are included in regular education classrooms and succeed due to support provided by the teachers through the use of appropriate accommodations and modifications. Student involvement in the school community is fostered through a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities including athletics, academic competitions, clubs, volunteer experiences, and performance-based groups. Teachers are offered multiple professional development programs to expand their knowledge base about the craft of teaching, and are encouraged to remain active in leadership roles within organizations by presenting at conferences and publishing their work. The faculty of Hillsboro is diligent about building an environment conducive to teacher collaboration. A shared decision-making model guides school policy to ensure that multiple perspectives are considered when developing rules and regulations for the school community. The opinions, insight, and support of parents and community members strengthens the Hillsboro High School educational experience for our students.
