The Japanese Visual Arts Club (aka Anime Club) is for students interested in Japanese Visual and Pop culture. Students gather to share, read, watch and discuss Japanese media, including manga, age-appropriate Anime, magazines, and durama. The Anime Club sponsors fund raisers throughout the year to raise money for scholarships to attend MTAC (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention www.mtac.net). The club meets every Wednesday at lunch.
Activities and fundraisers include Super Mario Bros. and Halo tournaments, as well as Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) and ramen eating competitions. Spin off groups include the Anime Artists who design and print an annual Hillsboro Anime Club manga and t-shirt; the Gamers who play Naruto and other games on Mondays, and the card players (Magic, Pokemon and Naruto) who also meet on Mondays in Mrs. Frensley’s room, 162 Vocational. All students are welcome. Susanne.Frensley@mnps.org .
